2008 250 weird noise
When Im stoppedI can hear this high pitched beeping noise coming from the front of my bike. Its really loud and very annoying. It doesnt happen all of the time. Has anybody else had this problem???
Sure you're not just hearing things in your head?[8D]J/K.
I really have not a clue what in the world would make high pitched beeping sounds. Could it possibly be something about that recall I hear the '08s have where there is some sort of air passage blockage? Does it sound like a hissing beep?

Oops. That didn't work. This is what I wanted you to read:
Took the bike out for a second time to day and heard the beeping (not too bad - just every now and then). Only when it occurred when the engine was off did we figure out is was the gas tank (there is a very faint hissing sound at the end of the beep that I would have never have heard had the engine been running.) Before today, I had been certain it was a beep (like a warning sound) - now I believe it's just a hissing sound that amazingly sounds like a "beep."

Just picked up an 08 last week for my wife, I was riding it a bit around town on saturday & it started beeping. I parked the bike in my driveway while I worked on other stuff inside the garage & it continued to beep for about 15 minutes. I opened the tank as well as the oil fill to see if that would stop it but it continued. Sometimes it was really loud & other times it was faint. I finally went up & as it was beeping I shook the bike from side to side & the beeping stopped. Hasn't done it since either although since the bike only has 45 miles on it I am taking a wait & see attitude.
Yes, the strange whistling-beeping sound. Good god, try getting on a bike for your first riding lesson ever and hearing that! I thought "what the hell, I sound like a truck backing up". Seriously though, it's extremely loud and very un-nerving to a new rider. I wish it would go away. Someone on another forum mentioned drilling out those vent holes but he hasn't updated the post yet. I would think that would solve it though. Although on day two of my riding lesson, it did not do it near as much as the first day. Maybe it was the added fuel...not sure though.
Found this video. Mine sounds like this with the engine off too but seems much louder while i'm riding it, as i can hear it over the engine and with my helmet on.
