That's a whistling sound, the one with my wifes bike actually sounded exactly like a beeping noise. it would beep & then no noise for maybe 1-2 minutes, then it would beep again & repeat the cycle.

so far i have not experience that noise from my 08. maybe because i don't fill the tank to the max?

Yep, I had wierd noise too...but i only noticed it when bike not running so not too loud...
gotta agree with the not filling right to the top cause it hasnt made the noise since the second tank of fuel...
On a different wierd noise - if i try to change up but am already in top gear I hear a beep - is this normal?
this is my first bike so if this is a normal bike thing i appologise for the dumb question [8D]

Played around with it a bit today & got the noise to appear again, definitely is the gas tank...1st tank of gas is still in it. Traced the vent hose up from the bottom & it appears as if possibly there was a slight kink in the line just before it plugged into the tank. That would allow it to vent but slowly, thereby building a vaccum in the tank. Will have to see if the noise issue comes back.

I finally got my new Ninja this past week, and took it for a ride. The dealer only put in a 1/2 a tank of gas and I haven't added any, but my bike also makes that high pitched noise. I opened the gas tank and it stopped, but about a minute later it did it again for about a minute and then stopped by itself.

My 2008 Ninja 250R doesn't make any weird sound since I bought last week. it's very quiet as inside the Submarine.

Just picked up an 08 last week for my wife, I was riding it a bit around town on saturday & it started beeping. I parked the bike in my driveway while I worked on other stuff inside the garage & it continued to beep for about 15 minutes. I opened the tank as well as the oil fill to see if that would stop it but it continued. Sometimes it was really loud & other times it was faint. I finally went up & as it was beeping I shook the bike from side to side & the beeping stopped. Hasn't done it since either although since the bike only has 45 miles on it I am taking a wait & see attitude.

ya my bike did this on the first few fill ups of gas, and after about 4-5 fillups of gas it stopped. but i understand your concern mine was so loud i would turn around because i thought a truck was backin up haha
