Its completely up to you what you start out on........just remember - never outride your abilities or you'll get yourself into trouble someday.

And like Notstock mentioned - get gear too!

Id say go for the ZX-14, its a great starter bike and you prolly could handle it right outta the gate...wait no, thats what some kid who I went riding with SERIOUSLY tried to tell me. IN all honesty, the new 500 is a nice bike for a first street bike. My first was the 636 but I had ridden dirt before. Just sit on it, get the feel for it, and take her easy, no matter how big the bike is, you can always do something stupid on it no matter how much experience you have if you arent careful!!

even on a 250 you can get yourself into trouble if you try to ride beyond your skill level. MSF course is awesome and will help you out a lot....but in the end its experience that wil keep you safe. Stay on your toes cause cagers do not pay attention to bikes! Good luck, get gear, ride safe and post pics when you get your ride!
