Hi I am new to riding and am looking at picking up a Ninja 250 advertised on craigslist. I need your expertise!!!!

-2001 K Ninja 250
-6,182 miles

-Been dropped three times; fairing and blinker were destroyed... No right blinker and nice tear in fairing.

-Muffler is pretty beat up from being dropped.

-Says it runs well, shifts perfectly. Just minor cosmetic (albeit expensive issues).

She has it for $900obo, I checked nada and low retail is $860.

Is this a good deal, even despite the costs to restore? I want a nice light bike for commuting around town and this seems like a great bike to start on. What should I offer her that would be fair to us both?

No picture in the ad? To me that means no sale. I don't even look at ads on CL unless there is a picture. If people are that lazy that they can't take a picture then they obviously don't care about much. Oh and welcome to the forums.

 

Agreed on not posting pictures! I hate that, especially for something of this value (its not she is trying to unload a DVD player for $10...)

I do have pictures she sent me in our back and forth... Unfortunantly I am at work (sneaky sneaky) and cannot upload anything. She details the damage on the fairing with the blinker gone, and the dents on the muffler. Other than those two items, it looks to be in great shape, including the seat and the rest of the body.

Actually the price seems to be about right for that bike to me. Post up pics when you can, I would like to see it as well.
