new guy with old KE100
Hi all, First post.
Got my first Kawasaki a couple months ago, a 1975 KE100 from a thrift store for $75, no title just a bill of sale, bike needs lots of work but motor not seized and has good compression, having rebuilt two yamaha RD`s (350 and 400) this single should present no problems. I`ve read quite a bit about the KE100`s and it seems it was Kawasaki`s longest running model, I know theyre not screamers but I just want a economical bike to ride to work on nice days. I`m pestering the DMV about how to obtain a title so I can have it tagged and registered but theyre slow in answering. Anyone from Florida who can give me advice on how to re-title this bike would be a real help.
You`ll no doubt be getting lots of questions from me as this adventure evolves.
I guess we can start with the "before" pix hopefully we can get to "after" in the near future.

such a sad state of affairs, I had to rescue her. She will ride again.

the RD350 before....

and after!
Hope to have as good a time resurrecting the KE100,
Scott

Welcome to KF. The KE is a great daily driver. No muscle, weak brakes, weak suspension but I would feel safer on that ride then the new smaller wheeled scooters out there. Nice fixes on the RZ
Got a reply back from the Florida DHSMV, I can get a title! Since the bike is an antique (30+ years old) all I need is a bill of sale and an affadavit from the seller stating there are no liens YAHOO!! thank God it`s an antique or it would require a court order!
Went to the Tax Collectors Office to pay my property taxes and asked for clarification on generating a new title for the KE100...I was expecting the usual brush off or puzzled look, but instead the lady at the Tax Collectors office pulled up the Florida statute, read over it, told me that since it was an antique I just need an affidavit from the seller and a bill of sale completely describing the vehicle, she even made up the forms and printed them for me, printed the statute, and made a note on the forms for the Milton, Fl. DMV to generate a new title and the circumstances for such. I have NEVER in my life had such good service from the tag office! YipEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!
