Question ke100 troubles

Hey everyone.
to start I have never owned or ridden a motorcycle before in my life. I just recently purchased a 99 Kawasaki ke100 for a little under 200 bucks. only thing wrong I noticed was the back tire was missing some spokes. so I put the tire in the shop and got it laced and trued and waiting for it to finish so I can put it back on. the man I bought it from owned it for a while but it spent the last year sitting in a barn. he got it running for me so I brought it home. now I cant get it to idle unless it is fully choked. I know 2 strokes are simple engines but I cant figure it out. the jets are cleaned and the carb seemed fine. any help would be appreciated. just want it running so I can learn to ride and eventually get myself a bigger bike.
thanks!

Hi David,
Check the air filter is not clogged or non-exsistant. Foam and paper filters sitting around for long periods of time can degrade foam more so than paper. If the filter is not clean and fresh that can give the described symptoms.
Are you using clean fresh fuel?

Rats love air filters

Congrats on the ride.

Did you clean the jets or did the previous owner? If the air filter is okay, my guess would be not getting enough fuel. Have you tried holding the throttle open a little while you slowly take the choke off?
