Default Hello 1600 km trip on a klx 250sf

I've been lurking for a while now and figured since I was on a long ride i would make some posts
riding from saint Walburg SK to Fernie, BC via Icefields parkway.
I'm riding.. get this> a klx250sf
I'm 270lbs
haha I'm here to put the "Can I take a KLX250 on the highway 10 miles to work" issue to bed once and for all!

Sincerely.
JonSask

Hey Jon, welcome to the forums! I took mine on a 700 mile 4 day trip a few years ago, it performed flawlessly.

The seat leaves much to be desired, 2300km's so far on this trip. The bike actually pulls harder than when i left
I'm going to try to ride the last 700kms or so tomorrow to get home, my tailbone is realllly not liking my decision to ride a klx250 this far

Welcome Jon. Consider a "sore tailbone" the supreme compliment for your ride. Whenever you come away with aches, it means your bike is tougher than you are. That's a VERY good thing on an extended haul.
You go, man! Welcome again. Post up some pics of the trek; beautiful country up there.

Oh you mean the vinyl covered 2x4 they call a seat? Yeah that's a butt buster for sure! Standing up while riding helps. Not sure if its legal but I've never been stopped for it, it does look funny going 60 down the road standing up, but its the only way to long distant ride the stock seat.

haha yeah standing up was done today, as well as pretty much riding side saddle, a storm was chasing us all the way through alberta on the way to saskatchewan.

It was awesome when I got around 150km from home I pulled in to top up with gas, pulled out onto the highway and poof no power just misfiring and crap.. max speed was 92km/h with the storm right on our heels
I pulled the choke and AHA! i could go 105

So, I make it 50km to the bike dealer where I bought it, they were closed of course. So i pull the seat and tank, then the carb and take the bowl off with the ominous weather just blowing in
a portable street sign flipped over just as I got the carb back in and the seat mounted

flew the rest of the way home but had to punch through about 5 mins of torrential downpour

oops... ps the main jet was mostly plugged
dont know how anything got in there through the screen
