Hi folks. I'm a new member, and a Grandpa. My last "off-road" bike was a 2003 BMW Dakar 650 that was neither that great on the road once set up for off-road, or very good off-road due to the almost 500lb. My last "real" dirt bike was a '90 KX125 and previous to that an '80 KDX175. Of course in '80 I was wrenching at the local Kawi dealer. So.....

I just bought a 275 mile 2020 KLR250 from the original owner. I'll be interacting here quite a bit because the KLR will be primarily for woods riding. I've got a Sportster now for the road.

There is a great 250 community in here, so there are alot of good reads.
I ditched my sportster for a ninja 500 and do not regret it. I can pull a 2500 mile long weekend fairly comfortable with good gas mileage. Tape up the lights for a track day prep, ride the hell out of it, then ride it back home. I could not do that with the sportster.
