2000 kx250 restoration project
Hi guys new to this forum just scored a 2000kx 250 for 900$.. the bike is in excellent condition in fact it almost looks new and has the factory graphics on it still!! but there is one issue... I have parts to make a running motor but im not sure the best route to go about this..
the bike came with the following
clymer manual
2 cylinder jugs needing replate but complete with powervalves and covers
1 cyl head
a whole set of cases dis assembled # stamped on case (kx250LE011495)
gears and all parts seem to be there and all in boxes but i have no clue how it goes together and if the bearings are good in the cases...
whole bottom end still assembled locked crank # stamped on case ( KX250KE020346)
stator
clutch cover
stator cover
clutches ( 3 full sets baskets and all looking to be in decent shape )
New stock bore wiesco piston set stock bore new in box
entire gasket set new in box
reed valves
carb in excellent shape
what i have done so far
Sent the piston ( for sizing to new cyl plating) one cyl head and jug out to milennium for a powervalve service, inspection, cleaning and re-plate. i sent the one #'ed 1851 which is the 98/99 head vs the #1835 which is from a 97..... hope i made the right decision on that...
I also bought a wiesco crank kit for a 93-2001 kx250 with bearings for 170$
now who can help me build one good motor out of all the stuff i have or where can i buy a super detailed manual
do you guys know of any big salvage yards that may have parts if needed?
Any help is appreciated and I would be willing to donate the extra parts left over for your time plus $ or if you know of anyone who isn't going to rip me off to do the work that would also be cool
i would really like to do the build myself I am very mechanical but this kinda scares me.... maybe I am overthinking it I have all the tools and dont bange things around like a cave man haha
i'm in chicago il area zipcode 60527
thanks for any help offered or suggestions
