Just acquired a 04 kx250f bike is deffently a project. Looking at taking my time and doing a good job. Bike was suppose to have a new top end with about 2 hours on it. It was sitting for 2 years so when u first got it I tried to get it to run with a little trouble. Decided to pull the valve cover and check the valves, which lead to removing the head and inspecting the "new" cylinder and piston. All seemed well til I looked at the side of the piston and notices some scuff marks on the piston skirts. There are no marks or signs on rubbing on the cylinder but just wondering what everyone thinks of this. I'm thinking of splitting the case and inspecting the crank/connecting rod to make sure every think is true and in spec.
Also the bike had some coolant in the base also noticed some leaking between the head and cylinder which all was spose to have a new gasket kit. I was wondering if there is suppose to be a o-ring on the coolant port on top of the cylinder? Wondering if this is where my leak is coming from.
