KLX 250 Carb
I know, another KLX 250 Car thread, but I haven't found my answer yet. Mine is a 1995 KLX 250 off road model. My carb seems to be terrible too. It wont Idle unless you turn the idle way up, then the idle will fluctuate from near stall to half way up in the RPMs. It is also hard to start and all the other problems that people in here experience.
My question is has anyone in here ever used a carburetor from a Suzuki DR 250 or DR350? I have had both bikes and they had the Mikuni pumper carbs on them. I think it was a TM31 and aTM33, but im not sure. Anyway, I am a fan of Mikuni's, I even run one on my harley, (HSR42) and love it.
I have fabrication skills, and so if I can find a used Mikuni from a DR, it seems like it would be a cheap upgrade. Any one done it? Problems? Does it bolt in? Does it fit in the intake boot for the head side? Keep in mind I have a 1995 off road model.
Thanks

Yes I have cleaned it
Thanks for the advice. I have been riding and working on motorcycles for 36 years, so yes I have cleaned it. There are a lot of posts on this subject in here. The stock carb has known issues. One of the ways to remedy the problem is to use the Mikuni TM33 pumper carb that people buy as a kit for the bike. The Suzuki DR 350 comes stock with this carb.
So my question is/was, has any one used this carb on thier KLX 250 since it is a lot cheaper to find one than to buy a kit.

It is my understanding that while the air box boot is a fit, the intake side has to have an adapter in order to bolt on. I draw my knowledge from purchasing a Bill Blue TM33/34 that he customizes to be a plug and play. He has to also fabricate a throttle cable mount that eliminates the return pull cable. My issue was not having enough clearance to allow the tank to properly set back in place. 250's do not have this problem from what I have read. Shipped to you would probably be about $400. I am sure there are used TM33's out there much cheaper and if you have the technical knowledge and the tools to make modifications you could do it.
