Well back in 2022 I bought a brand new klx300ds. Did all the usual mods and was a fun bike. I put about 2000 miles on it. My younger brother had a Yamaha dirt bike that the engine blew up and he was bikeless. I offered my Klx to him for a great price and he took it. I have other bikes to ride so I wasn’t without a ride. Anyway I missed it almost immediately. Tried to just forget about it but just couldn’t. Winter weather rolled around and my other two bikes are pretty much put away until summer so nothing to ride right now.
I was cruising CL like always and searched klx300 for the hell of it. Found a 2023 camo with only 17 miles on it. Orig owner bought it back in March of 23 and just road it a few times around his 5 acres. Came with (not installed) hand guards, rear rack , Dunlop front tire more for dirt and an oil change with filter. He was asking $6500 got it for $6250 + TTL came to $6850. My 2022 was just over $8000 OTD so this was a pretty good deal on a practically new bike.
I installed the rear rack, hand guards and did an oil change just to start fresh. I placed and order for some bar risers, new mirror and shorty levers.
For performance I ordered a baker full system exhaust, EHStuner, pair valve block off, and a 15t front sprocket.
So after adding up the price of everything I am just about $8050 total with mods. So the same as I paid for a brand new 2022 stock. I had about another $1600 into the 2022 so closer to 10k brand new modded bike compared to 8k modded. Always go used over new to save. Can’t wait to go riding with my brother.

Started the tear down and build back up with the removal of the secondary throttle plate, pair valve system and emissions system. Took the instrument panel out (will get color change). Installed handle bar risers, mirror, levers and a 15t sprocket. More parts coming next Friday.
Got the Barker full exhaust, EHS tuner and larger fuel tank. The fuel tank is the eBay Chinese IMS knock off. It fit just fine and doesn’t leak. Will test ride tomorrow.
Just got back from a 15 mile ride. Yes the exhaust is loud. I have a quiet core spark arrest baffle ordered.
This is a different bike from stock. In stock form it seemed lethargic and slow.
Now even with the 15t front sprocket feels like it pulls so much harder in the lower RPMs, just how I remember my 22 was like. I am very very happy with the power increase and I didn’t have to take it to a dyno. That right there saved me $300 . Can’t wait until the weather gets better and I can take it offroad.
