Your longest KLX250 ride
I'm gonna barrow text from 002 and alter...
The longest I have ridden in one day is about 70+... but that's 90% dirt.
Don't really care much for the asphalt lifestyle on the KLX...
Bought it for the dirt bike experience.... amen brotha!

It was a joke about the guys who were giving you crap about the large tank, etc, etc. No need to appologize.
I would say the most I've ridden in one day is 40-45 miles. I've never had it on the highway, and haven't been more than 12 miles away from home. Mostly, I ride to the trails, which are about 8 miles away, each way. The trails are tight, and I take lots of breaks, so I guess I don't pile up the miles very quickly in one day's worth of riding.
Not a KLX, but I use my KTM the same way I did my KLX.
Anyway, typical rides for me are anywhere from 60 to 70 miles when I ride around here locally. That's maybe 40 to 50 miles of pavement, the rest trails, power lines, etc. I use the stock "skinny" tank on these rides.
But when I ride a little farther south with the crew down there where the terrain is faster and more open, anywhere from 120 to 200 is the norm. This past weekend me another fellow did 150 miles. I usually throw on the larger 3.4 gallon tank when I ride down that way. That 150 mile ride was great - it was 25 miles of pavement down and back, but once at the hop-off point, we did a 50 mile one-way route through what they call Area 51, Greg leading on his new KTM 690 - man that think is SWEET!. That 50 mile off-road route had maybe only 2 miles of pavement the whole way, to connect a few sections. Once the route was in the GPS, I took point and routed us backwards all the way back to the start point. That was fun!

Took the bike to Vegas last September. Went through Death Valley on the way back. The bike was overheating with temps at 115F so I had to slow down even though the roads were perfect for my usual "terminal velocity touring". Ruined two rear tires and a front on the trip. The best riding was through Lassen park, perfect weather, newly repaved and empty roads plus riding through swarms of billions of butterflies. I highly recommend the Death Valley thing but gas was over 5 bucks a gallon and you're gonna have to carry as much water as gas if you want to survive camping and riding the backcountry. My biggest mileage day was a little over 800 miles, shooting for home the last day.
Yeah, that's farther than I'd want to go on any bike in one day. Hell, that's a long-*** ride in a car! When I drove from coast to coast once, I don't think I did more than 600 miles in one day. But I had plenty of time.

I am 45 miles from Lassen in Redding, I am gonna have to carve out some time this summer to do the Lassen Park drive. I have climbed to the top of the peak 4 times so far. I really want to hit DV but before the 115 degree days. I bet this weekend would be perfect... too bad I got to work Monday...

), two 170 miles 90% off road days
