Default Yet another dynojet thread.

So I am looking at getting a jet kit for the sf. I recall reading everyone going with the KLX300 jet kit. Did some looking up on dynojets site and found as many questions as answers.

They now list a kit for the
KAW 09-10 KLX250S and KAW 09-10 KLX250SF Which have different part #s but seem to contain the same bits. Must just be to make customers feel assured they are getting the correct kit. I looked at what is in them and compared to what comes in the KAW 97-07 KLX 300 kit and it appears the KLX300 kit has all the larger jets just drops off the two smallest and also does not have a replacement slide spring. It also has larger fuel jet.

So it appears to me the way to go would be the KLX300 kit especialy if one is going to open up the airflow on the intake and exh ends. Also would be a must to put larger bore in. I am debating putting my 331 cyl in the gf bike and getting a 351 from bill blue in a few months. If I do that the CVK with dynojet 300 kit should be sufficent?????

Want to bounce this off you guys before getting the 300 kit.
Cheers Jim

I just ordered the DynoJet 2152 kit for the 09-10 KLX250s. Will be installing it in a 2006 model KLX250s. One reason why I choose this kit over the KLX300 is the slide spring gets replaced and no drilling of the slide diaghram. Plus a wider range of jets, thou I won't use them expect the 124 and up.

When I looked at the PDF's it listed the plug drill in all three kits. Are you saying that if you change the spring the drilling is optional or is it drill or change spring but not both???

Plug drill is to remove the little cap over the idle fuel screw. Slide drill is for the slide lift hole. Two different drill bits for two different things. As for the slide spring, not sure. Seeing how DynoJet included it, there must be a change from the OEM spring. Could be a softer or harder spring. Drilling the slide hole increases the vacuum rate, thus increasing the needle rate for better response. I suppose you could do both mods.

I used the new kit for the 250 that came with the slide spring.
The slide spring is shorter, and i think weaker.
It didnt work for me, and i put the stocker back in and drilled the slide.
When i used the DJ spring, the slide would hang open, and the bike would not run off idle.
took a little bit of figuring out, i even stretched the DJ spring to the same length as the stocker before i gave in.
Maybe my carb has a little burr somewhere or it's too new and not worked into place, or whatever. Just saying i didn't have good results with it.

I got the 09 250 kit and it works great. It revs out much faster. I can even give it gas when it is cold with the choke on. Before it would take a few minutes to warm up and it would die if I gave it any gas at all.

I would agree with cmott426, I used the 09 kit as it came. I used the spring that came with the kit and didnt drill the slide. It warms up quicker and am able to throttle up when in choke. The only thing that I have is when the choke is on, the RPM's are a lot higher than before the DJ kit. I have no idea on how to resolve it.

Well I ordered the 300 kit so It looks like I will be a no spring test case. Now I want to have a spring just to try both ways. I will say I am pretty happy the the FCR on my KLX331s and if I end up getting the 351 I will probably get another FCR at the same time. So the CVK may only be on the 250sf bike for less than a year.
