WOW, air box lid...
runs real good with 1 inch size hole under the air ram an 6 1/4 inch holes in the end of the mufler tip around the stock outlet with stock jets. not loud but bass tone. good power from 4000 to 8000 rpm
ORIGINAL: KDXmike
I always hear alot of talk about adding the KDX snorkel to the KLX. Funny thing is that KDX riders complain about the same thing with regards to the restrictive airbox. Many KDX owners remove the airbox lid as well. I simply took a holesaw to my KDX lidand made a few openings.
My jetting is a nightmare and has been since I bought the bike. This season I'm gonna get it right.

Don't forget though that the KDX is a 2-stroke engine and it consumes O2 at a much great rate than our 4-strokes.
I removed the snorkel completely for a short time but didn't like the little bit of extra noise and could tell no difference in performance between no snorkel and the KDX unit.
IMHO the snorkel (or at least the stock opening) provides a means to meter the air so that jetting across the engines wide operating range is more easily accomplished, without the lid on if I had the bike jetted right in the mid range it was lean on top and so forth, no doubt the engine performed a bit better at higher RPM's but I just couldn't get it right across the scale and that’s what proper jetting entails.
Bad Bear is right in that the CVK carburetor is a limiting factor.
Yeah Bear, I was a little concernedabout being too lean, but as i recall,it's been awhile since jetting, Iam running1 sizelarger main than most here are. I have to find the rest of the dynojet kit to see what I didn't use to find out what I used[8D].The 2-bros is the only thing I hear on that bike.
