Default Air Box Lid

I removed my air box lid yesterday and went for a ride yesterday evening. Past 5k RPM the bike acted funny like it was, jumpy is the way I would describe it. I haven't rejetted or put a new exhaust on yet. I'm guessing there's too much air for the air - fuel ratio? Sound right to you guys?

If your bike is a USA model the main jet is a #115 or a #118. These cause the bike to run lean to pass the newer emissions laws. Removing the lid is compounding the problem. You're over-leaning the air/fuel mixture. Put the lid back on until you fit a #132 main jet, adjust the fuel screw and fit a better breathing exhaust.
