Default Winterize

Well, seeing as it's been below freezing for the past two days, I figure its time to put 'er down for the winter. .

First thing, was to put 1/2oz of stabil in the gas tank and a bit in my gas can. I want to run this through the carb a bit and make sure the stabil is completely through my system... So I'll go for a nice short ride.. Now, I haven't ridden in a few weeks. That plus it being 30 degrees, means my bike wouldn't start. Even on the charger, no firing. So I had to buy a can of starting fluid. Got it running and went for a 20 minute ride.
Got home, put it on the stand and connected my maintainer battery gizmo. Good for the winter!

Anyone else anve any tips for winterizing?

I fog the cylinder as well. I put the bike on a stand and some wood under the front trie so it doesnt touch the floor. I also hose the bike down with WD-40 or another type of lube. This helps prevents rust.

Winterize? You mean theres a time of year that you do not ride!!! For me, if it starts, I ride.

A way around the hard to start when freezing outside. Tilt the bike and try to start to it.

That was my philosophy until I dumped the KLX on black ice this morning.

No real damage. Bent brake levers and damaged handlebar grip.

It seems both Kawasaki’s and Fat Blokes bounce OK.

Seriously thinking about commuting by train tomorrow - at least until the bruises go down.

I dumped my SF on concrete a few weeks ago and the only things that got damaged were the throttle side hand grip and the plastic piece that covers the muffler. Picked it up and it started right up. It's nice to have a bike that can take a fall and not need $500 worth of new plastics.

Strip the bike down to the frame, powder coat, adjust valves while the motor is out, then get bored and polish things like spoke nipples with a dremel. Oh, that's just me lol....

And it probably doesn't hurt to put the engine at top dead center of the compression stroke to relieve as much pressure as possible on the valve springs. . . . .

Yup, but since you just did a valve adjustment, the piston is already there!
