Default Will the crankcase breather mod end the oil spillage?

My bike is pouring oil out of the cam cover and the filler cap. The bike has a ticket at the mechanic but he's really busy. I know when he does the valves he'll put a better string of goop around the cam cover... but I've read that the fill cap is caused from the extreme pressure in the bottom of the motor. If I run the bigger vent hose and open up the end, would that stop my oil loss woes?

I "hear" it will... I did the drill in the airbox and I can tell you that doesn't relieve the pressure.

Default Oil Leakage

If the valve cover was not torqued down properly, that could be the problem. Or, a new valve cover gasket or a bead of silicone seal will take care of the top leak. The o-ring on the filler cap is junk. Take the o-ring to your local hardware or auto parts store and buy one the same size. Put both o-rings on the cap and that will take care of the leak.

From a third person perspective I can understand that view, but this is a very common problem.

Never had a problem with the valve cover gasket. And I pulled mine off several times before. As for the crankcase vent, check to see if anything is clogging it first.

I had a similar problem with a Cummins engine. The dipstick would try to shoot out every time the engine was running. After checking everything, I found the cause to be a clogged crankcase breather hose.

I agree with Learjet on this. High Pressure is not normal. If oil is "Pushing" out of anywhere it can find, there's probably a clog.

my bike has the mod, i dont recommend it, every time you lay your bike over, you lose 300ml odd , and because it dumps into your air box, you will blow smoke if you lay it down for 5-10mins and if you rev it over 8000rpm, this mod cost me $1300 because of when i first bought the bike and i didnt know i lost that much oil, so when i layed the bike down 2 or 3 time and keep running it, in about a week not more head or cams.

id take the head cover off, clear out all the old sealant re apple you sealant or silicon and re-torque the bolts, it not very hard to do, grab a torque wrench and give it ago.

good luck

Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa.................whoa.

Whats all this crank gasket, and head gasket leakage and spillage into the airbox......getting waaaaaaaaay off course here. He said his oil filler cap is leaking, THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM, a flaw with the bike, MANY people have this. There is nothing extraordinaryly wrong with his machine. Your gonna send Clifsta into a panic thinking hes gotta rip his engine down or something.

Like I said Clif, I've heard doing the full mod of running the new hose does relieve the pressure, whether it does or not I cant say. I've done the drill out and it doesn't seem to do any good.

Thanks Jason. As usual, people on this forum half-read something then scan replies and post something pretty far off-topic...

So help me out here... I cant just run a larger hose and connect it to the stock airbox? Or does the larger hose require poking into the airbox and attaching a filter? I've never really had the mod explained to me, but I have read about how there's way too much pressure in the bottom of the motor. As for the cam cover leaking (its leaking like a siv) I'm sure my mechanic will take care of it when he adjusts my valves.
