I realize that you guys probably already know this, but just in case you don't I should remind you that the stock KLX250S radiator shrouds will not work with the KLX300R tank. You have to use the shrouds for the KLX300R. The folks on Ebay that are selling the tank are also selling a nice set of shrouds, but you might have a tough time winning both auctions.

With that said, for whoever wins the tank, I have a backup set of shrouds that I can let you use while you look for better shrouds. The set ispretty beaten up, so they really only a good option as a backup for me or to bridge the gap for you, but at least you can bid with confidence on the tank. I would just ask that you pay for shipping, which shouldn't be more than about $10 each way.

Another option for you, if you don't want to wait for a set to become available on Ebay, is to just go for a new set from Maier for about $70 or so.

Anyway, just a reminder and an offer. Good luck in your bidding.

BTW, I considered bidding on this tank too, but I will stick with my green 300 tank instead of going all black.

I'd like to get the tank so I could get the black Maier shrouds for it, but I don't have the money to do it right now so I don't think I'll be bidding...would still be nice to have thou

I don't think the KLX300R headlight shroud will work. I'd say keep looking or fork out the $75.

Yeah, I agree Brian. I decided against trying it this afternoon. I may go for a replacement headlight like the one Deej suggested in the other thread on this topic, but I also may just try to rig up my existing part with some epoxy.

Any suggestions anyone on a specific brand or type of epoxy for fixing body panel plastic?

You might check around for a place that specializes in plastics - check the yellow pages for your area. There are machines that "weld" plastic and I bet you can probably find a place that might give it a go and maybe be able to repair it. I don't really know of any glue that works on plastic unless it is the type that chemically melts the pieces together, like that stuff used for PVC pipe, but I doubt that would work on the bike plastic and probably just make a mess of it. I'm sure there is some proper formula out there to do it, the hard part is finding the right stuff. Again, someone that specializes in plastics can probably advise you on that - maybe the same folks that have that plastic "welder".

On those other lights like the UFO or similar models, check them out closely because many are just intended to add a light to a dirt bike to get home after dark, but are not DOT legal and don't put out all that much light. If you go that route, make sure you get DOT approved.
