What's the future for Kawi 250cc DS?
A two stroke can easily be made to have a very friendly, no hit power band, and last as long as any four stroke, while making superior power.
As for the fix it threads, any bike will have issues that need to be addressed as long as it's in the hands of people who either have more money than brains, or just can't stop fiddling with something, despite not having a clue what they're doing.

My circa 1967 Bultaco Sherpa T makes as much horsepower as the KLX does. I'm betting in a similar chassis with a regular gear box I could outperform the KLX with it too (Bultaco did it with the Alpina engine, but that was before any chassis like the KLX has).
Even the common 125 MXers had more horsepower than the KLX. The 250s probably had more than a KTM350 or 450 too, especially with the advent of reed valve intakes and power valve exhausts. Makes one long for the good old days in engines, but thankful for the present day chassis and suspension.
WOW! Current 125's (2 smokes) are making 34+ HP !!! You know those things are too much fun - of course it's been decades since I rode one - docile for beginners as long as they keep it "off the pipe" ... And raging hyenas when on the pipe.. My daugters KTM 105 SX makes 30.5 hp / 149.9lbs - talk about a angry bumblebee..
My Husky CR150 (factory 125 big bore) makes more HP than that, and it's a riot. Tempted to buy a KX100 or KTM 105 to use as a tight woods bike - I'm short and light.
678, ride a Gasgas, or Beta woods bike. No hit, smooth, big power, last forever and NOT boring. I rode an Xtrainer last month, and the low end power was so strong, I don't think it's possible to stall.

Yeah,, the 85 - 250 2 smokes piped for MX have the powerful "hit" when they "come up on the pipe"... For instance, KDX's and open class MX's do not.. We used to toss the stock expansion chambers for the FMF Fatty's immediately upon taking delivery..Now FMF calls thier lastest "woods pipe" the Gnarly..
I love the fact my Kdx220 is road legal but I still perfer the Klx for duelsport.

I'm about ready to forget the "trail" part of my dual sports and go for more the gravel/pavement bike
