Default What are the Dunlop 605's rated?

As far as on-off road goes? 75% off 25% on?

I got mine with 1000 miles and the rear is starting to look pretty worn. I think they grip pretty good on the pavement. But then again this is my first bike and I received it with the tires basically worn.

I think the 606's replaced the 605's?

I'm looking for something that'll have good grip on the road, but will still be able to get up some hills at the trails. Say, 70% on 30% off?

I realize we've gotta compromise with DS tires.

Check out the Kenda website. Lots of great feedback from users on this forum.
I like the look of the Pirelli Scorpion pro's .

if you want tires that last get a pair of 606's. i ride hard and aggressive in the dirt but rack boatloads of asphalt.. my 606's are pretty much shot at this point but i have over 2500 miles on em which is phenomenal for the way i ride! i had a set of trakmasters and while they grip superb in the dirt the compound they are made from is junk... id smoke the rear tire in 1200 miles or less.

Ohh the Kenda K270 Dual Sport look nice.

Anyone run these? How fast did they wear? What size fits stock rims the best? Will the 5.10-21 fit the stock rim?

I'm not sure if Continental makes the TKC-80 in a size that will fit the KLX250S but if they do, it's a fantastic tire. I used them on my DL650 V-Strom and my F560GS Dakar and loved them. They stick great on pavement and are really good on trails. The only downside is that being a soft rubber compound, they wear pretty quickly. You can only get about ~5k miles on the rear depending on your riding style. Again, not sure if they make them for the KLX250. If they do, I'll be buying them when my current tires need replacing.

Yeah they look pretty good.

Here's a listing, not sure if these will fit the stock rim.

I wore out my stock Dunlop D603 in 1500 miles (about half street-riding). I replaced it with a D606 (I love the Dunlop offroad tire with the same tread pattern). So far so good. I've put a couple hundred miles on it.

I have the Kenda on the rear and it seems to be lasting forever. I love it.

You can pretty much just look at the tread pattern of a tire and judge how good it will be off road vs. on road. The D606's look like they're a good compromise but they're pricey. Also at a minimum size of 120/90 for the D606, they seem to be too beefy for a stock KLX 250. They'll undoubtably rob performance at the lower end of the power spectrum especially on an un-modded bike which is the last thing we need on these bikes. I wouldn't go any bigger than a 110/100 and finding a compromise there is tough for a DOT certified tire. After much research and 'hand wringing' I went with a Bridgestone TW 302 at 4.60 which is a 100/100 equivalent. The tire is fine except in muddy conditions which it probably true for the K270 as the close tread patterns are similar.

I tried a Kenda Trackmaster II first but it wasn't a good street tire compromise as I use the KLX to commute to work. I removed the Trackmaster and put it on my KDX200 and was thrilled with the way the tire hooked up off road.

The tire I really want is backordered everywhere at a 110/100-18 size. It's the Pirelli Scorpion XCMH Dual Sport tire. The tire tread looks like the perfect compromise between street and trail but good luck finding one. http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/tpl/ti...fCatId=&mmyId=

Default dunlop 605 rated

I would go with the dunlop 606 I ride 60% on road 40% off every day to work I put 2700 miles on my 606 and I just put a new one on yesterday. I did not notice a big power diffrence between the stock tire and the 606. Yes it may cost a little bit more than other tires but the wear and traction are worth it. I just payed $70.00 for my 606 from motorcycle superstore.
