What boots do you wear riding?
Boots are key on or off road. Im not going to say I don't occacionally cheat, cause if I'm just going "around the block" on the street I just go in my regular shoes. In dirt though I always wear my MX boots, looks are of no importance to me.
For the street you need something to cover your ankle bone that sticks out on the side of your foot. That is the first thing to be ground down to nothing & also the hardest to fix after the fact. If I'm going any distance at all I try to wear some leather over the ankle boots.

Question on new MX boots.
My old MX boots are finally dying. I ordered some new Alpinestars off the internet and when I received them I notice they don't have the "long lace up around the shin and calf" feature on the inside of the boot that my old boots have and all older (10 years ago not 35 year old lineman type boots) MX boots have.
Sooooo you guys with the newer boots like the Fox tracker and Sidi MX boots do theyhave this feature or are they like my Alpinestars that just have buckles to do up the boots?
My foot fits great but my skinny legs and calfs have the upper part of the boot flopping around. I tried looking at MFG's web sites but there are no pictures or explanations about a lace up feature on the interiorof the new boots.

I got some Thor Quadrants a while back and they seem fine, no complaints. There have been a few cases where I was really glad I had them on such as rocks and especially sticks get kickup up by the front tire and kind've like a pole vault action jam into my foot/ankle as the bike moves forward. The hard boot is a great comfort and that stuff just bounces off. Shifting is fine, I didn't need to raise my shifter, but I did lower my brake pedal a bit to keep from riding the brake.

I have the same boots. It did take a few lawn cuttings to break them in, and I did raise my shifter. I'm very comfortable in them now.

Okay...so lets say you ride your bike to work 10 miles, Then on the way home you like to hit this 3 mile offroad trail for fun, then back on the street for the commute home...then right before you get home you decide you need to stop at Home Depot and pick up a few things....wtf do you wear that feels comfortable for this situation? (physically and mentally)...Im personally not gonna wear knee-high MX boots for that.

(Yes, I know it's a Harley
)
I bought some Fox boot's from a friend two years ago , i could not feel the brake pedal, or tell if i had
shifted gears with them so i sold them again ,
i also tried other top brand boots but found them very uncomfortable, i almost gave up on the idea when i saw
some Oneal Elements on sale they were the cheapest boots i had seen ,
i tried them on and they fit great, i wear them on and off road ,and can walk in them without getting sore,
you don't have to buy expensive boot's to get the best fit.

You can wear whatever you want, I dont ride off road & to work on the same ride so I don't have that problem.

Did the size match your normal shoe size? (size 11 shoe = size 11 boot)
I ask this incase I order some online.
These are like the boots I wear... Got em almost for free (the wife works for Harley).
I like them - good protection and they look "normal" with pants.
