pdub here. New to the klx but have been reading the forums before I bought. I'm living at 7500 feet in Flagstaff Az. I was wondering if you have any suggestions for mods ie; snorkel, carb, exhaust. From what i'm getting it runs lean at low elevation, wondering if would be running rich at this alltitude or how it should and require only exhaust. Also has anyone noticed any engine pinging at around the 3000-3500 rpm range. I'm running about 100 octane so its pinging or something else is vibrating.

Thanks for all your hard work! I just got my 06 (used, stock, no mods) and am looking forward to utilizing the invaluable information you all have posted to make my KLX perform it's best.

hey, i'm new...don't know how to start a new thread..so i'll start here..I have a 2006 klx250s-stock...except i recently added acerbis handguards (ones w/signal lights). The problem is..the lights w/ the handguards cause the signals to flash much quicker than the OEM lites. I did find a replacement bulb GE 921, but they are physically too big for the lens. Is there a simple fix for this? Has anyone else installed these hansguards and overcome this issue? Will running these lites shorten the life of the bulbs or flasher?

yo, moderator-dude.........well looks like this forum is going to be a blessing, since my shop manual is totally useless!
I thot I was going to do an easy little adjustment today by adjusting my air/fuel mixture screw, like I've done on so many bikes before..
but nooooooooooooooooooooooooo...can't find the thing!
is it this vertical tube thingy located at front of carb, right above the starter motor??
if so, how the heck do you get at it ????.............................................. ..massso

It has an aluminum cap in it... drill a tiny hole in it, then screw a screw in it an pull it out.... then the screw is under it, EPA doesnt want us to adjust it.... but its there.... try here...... https://hmfengineering.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1617

I think I'm having more fun on my new KLX250 than I ever had on my Honda XR650L!

Here's mine. I bought it a couple of days ago used w/200 miles on it. The guy had just had the front tire fixed (flat) and he put it back together without the spacer that goes on brake side. Can't ride it 'till part arrives Tues. Went ahead and ordered jets and snorkel and still trying to figure out how to remove butt plug. At this point am opting for drilling into existing hole. apparently '07 is different than '06.
Thanks to all for your excellent input and advice from experience on what mods work. This is obviously one very choked up little bike in stock form.
