But there is a really good explanation for all of this waving to me. Of course, I am really cool, look good, and I have a lots of charisma. Oh, did I mention how cool I am.
-Engineer... but I should have been a fiction writer instead.

I wave at almost anyone on anything over about 100cc that looks like a bike. I get waves from about 95% of those I wave at. The last 5% is made up by people that wave to me that are not on a bike. Kids in the backs of cars, guys in big 4x4 trucks. I think it is cool to anyone that has rode a dirt bike to see us on our dirt bikes on the street. They may not have there Class M1 but they still relate. How awesome is it that we get to ride our dirt bikes on the street.

I rode a cruiser before the KLX, I still waved to everyone.

I wave because it feels good. I say, "if it feels good, do it!" There is something primal about it.

I was coming down from Mt Baldy after breakfast one morning and must have met a 200 bikers (probably a club) coming up to Baldy, they were spaced far apart on a winding mountian rode and this made for lots of waving. 95% of them waved.

Cops rarely wave, the 5% that did not were mostly cops; about 2 of the 10 cops waved. I was impressed that 2 waved.

I saw a stereotypical bearded Harley ape hanger chopper salad bowl wearing dude stopped at a light and wave at a cop. The cop did not wave back at him. I saw him shrug his shoulders, like "oh well". I was stopping at the same intersection to his rights. We both gave the the head nod (hello) as I stopped. He got the green and crossed infont of me. We both waved (bye). Darn near everybody waves.

As a side note, that chopper had a tall first gear and still enough torque to pull Finger Mullets boat

Sometimes I don't wave. I could be watching out for soccer mom (or whatever) and then too late realize I missed a wave. They could be thinking. "Damn that jackass on that KLX (or that bee-mer) is a *****... he thinks he's too cool."

But, hopefully, they will have had the same soccer mom (la-la land or whatever) experience I have had and say, "he missed a wave, what ever it was... keep your eye on the ball."

I vote: Ride safe and don't be a *****, wave to everyone. (even the cops).

I was following a cruiser in my car today coming home and there were a few people that actually didn't wave back to them. They looked like there were stretched tighter than a drum...definite newbs....summer riders.

I'm with slapdrum, it just feels good to wave. Especially here in PA where everyone hates everyone and just wants to be left alone. Its nice to be friendly to someone else. I pass 4 wheelers on the road all the time and they wave. haha

I was a noob once too. I too had the OMG hang on for dear life grip. I did a lot of
Chin-up solutes. Because taking a hand off the grip was certian death.

I remember a sport bike guy passing me at the screamin' speed of maybe 50, while I was doing 45. He dropped a peace sign down where I could see it and then put his hand back in has lap and he leaned casually around the gentely sweeping curve in the road. I was "tighter than a SlapDrum"

Especially here in Anywhere, USA where everyone hates everyone and just wants to be left alone.

LOL, OK, today was actually the first day riding for a few days because of being busy and weather and what not. I didn't get to ride until evening so there weren't as many bikes out....BUT, I did do the Forrest Gump wave. Most got a big smile on their face and waved back. Did have one A-hole who totally blew me off. I yelled back F#ck you or something......that reminds me, last year I got a meth amphetamine-Forrest Gump wave from a dual sporter on a Yamama...whats that old bike? They're red and white....mind went black. XT?

I came to the tunnel at the Horseshoe Curve (look it up, Altoona PA) and theres a light and you cant get through in 2 lanes because its narrow. And its in the middle of nowhere and bikes have a hard time triggering the light so if its late and no ones around I'll just slip through. Well this guy was waiting there for a long time, I know that because I saw him go by when I was on a trail a few miles up the road, and he was still sitting there. It was getting cold and he had on some loafers with shorts and a T-shirt and no helmet ( I don't know how people don't freeze like that ) , and I was pulling up beside him to help trigger the light. He must have thought I was being impatient because then he goes "Go head, go around". But really, by that time the light was green and he wasn't even paying attention because he kept staring back at me in his mirror. So I buzzed up past him and yelled "Its green, go"

Point being,...yet another customer fixed on the green machine. I was riding through some residential areas and I get stares all over the place. You also are not seen as easy by motorists. I don't think its because we're hard to see. I mean, you have a bright day glo green bike with a big ole bright headlight on it. I think people just visually tune out anything thats not a car and their eyes may see, but the brain doesn't. I almost get hit all the time. I bet I'm not the only one though.

I wave at pretty and ugly girls, only the ugly ones wave back. I also wave at deer and bear, but I don't wave at groundhogs.
