Voltage R/R Issues
Hello All.
I am getting less than ideal voltage across my battery terminals when fully warmed up across all RPM.
I am getting around 13.3-13.7 at the terminals with just stock headlights on, no accessories other than the voltage meter.
I am getting higher voltage when I test from the voltage R/R, around 14.3. Is it normal to have such a large discrepancy when testing from these two locations?
Thanks,

You can use your voltmeter to isolate any section of wiring that may be causing a voltage drop. Just touch the probes on either end of a section of suspected wiring under load and see if there is a voltage indicated. I would like to see LESS than 50 mV-if it reads higher then you have something(wiring, connector, etc) that has a high resistance. Use the probes to isolate where the voltage drop is located and repair that fault.

Thanks for the replies.
I soldered 12 gauge wire to the ground wire that runs to the rectifier / regulator and grounded it to the starter ground bolt. I now have about 13.2 at idle and 14.1 -14.2 revving.
Would the lack of good grounding cause the OEM R/R to fail prematurely? I had to swap out for a Ricks motorsports R/R as my OEM was outputting zero voltage. Stator passed all checks.
Thanks again.
