I tried that "dual purpose" stuff for awhile on my r1150gs. Not near enough man in me for that!!!! +1 on the KLX being the bike for that job.

**** son I remember when they used to call them enduro bikes the big one was 360cc Now we have Adventure Tourers 20 grand and it cant dream of going where my klx goes.

when I first saw the Versys I said twas the all rounder for me

I picked up A Versys in April of last year and put 10k on her, one trip was 2200 miles over 4 days all stock except for side bags and a top case, hand guards and heated grips. This winter I added Galfer front lines and pads for better breaking, a Madstad adjustable windscreen mount and am 80% complete installing an Audiovox electronic cruise control. With that I plan to ride the V from NY to California and back. It is a great little bike that does so many things well.

That's the sort of thing I like to hear, I'm saving my pennies for the Versys, only thing is I will probably have to sell the KLX
