Tyre pressures for off-road
Guys - some advice please.
I've got a 4-5 hour ride planned this weekend. This will be predominately farmland and reasonably firm due to the fact it's only just the start of autumn.
My question - what recommendations for tyre pressures? Since Ive had the bike, most off-road riding has been hard-packed gravel/firebreaks etc so I havent been on farmland.
I'm only 70kg, so Im thinking I can get away with 16-17psi front & 18/19 rear? Can I go any lower? I DONT have rim locks as yet.
Cheers.

Stick to 18 front and rear until you get a feel for it. The bike handles a bit different on lower pressures. 12 can be the go but I've never found the need, a rimlock is a must is you run that low but 18 should be fine without one.
I went as low as 15 without a rim lock but as soon as I went to 14 the stem tore off (I had the nut still on) the next ride I did
have the stem pull up inside (nut off) but I run rim locks now

I will never take a chance on spinning the tire on the rim, I run max air all the time. It may make it more of a challenge to ride in certain areas, and it will give you a harder ride, but I won't trade that for having to push the bike home ever! Besides I would have to learn to ride the bike all over again after 10,000 miles of being beat to death.
