tyre pressures/high side at snetterton
7 weeks ago i had my first track day at snetterton on my first bike (2000 zx6r), i have only been riding the bike on the road for about 2 months and had the tyres inflated to what it says in the manual (41 in the back and 36 in the front). the track was cold and i highsided on the shicane before the front straight. i couldn't believe it, i was going slowly as it was the warm up lap but i guess the tyre pressure was far to high and with the cold track it was bound to happen.
the bike got smashed up pretty bad and i broke my collar bone bad, i now have a huge lump sticking out of my shoulder and am still waiting for the last piece to fix the bike. i am well p*ssed off
so-what tyre pressures do people use?41 and 36isbull**** imo.

ouch! Too bad on the high side. Heal up quick.
What tires are you running? Pirelli's normally run a couple of pounds higher in pressure but nothing that I am aware of is in the 40lb area what so ever.

It wasn't the tire's fault. They don't magically make you highside if it was too high.
I run about 36/35 in my pilot powers but it depends on the track conditions.

i was using bridgstone bt014 tyres and the track was cold, wish i had let go of the bike rather than let it catipult me into the track. i accelerated out of the corner, as soon as i gave it just i little that was it, back end flew out, gripped and sent me into the track. i don't think i gave it much throtle but then i have no experience. maybe thats it, i definatley have been a cocky bast*** on the roads thinking it was easy and riding like v.rossi.

With the PP's normal is 31 30
With the Power Race its 30 28
It is best to check with the tire manufacture if there at the track or just ask other riders. I ways go see the Michelin Man to get there recommendations for the days weather.

My mistake I check I thought it said 42 psi. It says 42 max psi with passenger. I'm big but not that big. I lowered it to 37psi. Most people run around 35-36 psi. So figure for my size 37 would be ok. and I run about 2psi Lower in the front.
