Default Trouble shifting into sixth

Anyone else find it a bit harder to shift into sixth gear ? It feels like the shift throw is longer or something and i've had to double shift quite a few times over the last week or so. I'm going to try and adjust the lever down one spline and see if that helps but is this a normal thing with these bikes or do i need to take this thing in for some warrenty work ?

I've never noticed it any different than shifting into any other gears..

How is your shifter adjusted ? Does it point down slightly or is it pretty much flat ?

Are you POSITIVE you are removing the toe of your boot from under the lever after selecting 5th gear? If I get lazy and don't completely let the lever return after upshifting in ANY gear, it will not shift. Just make sure before you begin adjusting things...

Pretty sure, sometimes it happens after running 5th down the dirt part of my road while standing i sit down and try to shift into sixth once on the pavement and put my toes under the shifter and it'll make a clunk/click as if it shifted but i'll still be in fifth.

It really feels like i have to make sure to throw the shifter through the extra travel to engage sixth. However some times it'll lock right in as if i'm shifting to any of the other gears...

I had a similar problem on my 6R, though with all the gears and i solved it by adjusting the shift lever to point down slightly.

Yeah, I found that a real pain. I have put the longer MSR shifter for the XR on (like others have suggested) and put it up a spline so that now I can have my boot under it without putting pressure on the lever. It does mean that I have to lift my leg a little to shift when sitting, but when standing (offroad) it is a whole lot more convenient. Makes me less prone to accidentally shifting up when I shift my weight backwards when going over whoop typre undulations.

Never had that problem, wedging your boot in tight will help. Also make sure your shifter bolt is holding the shifter on the spline real tight. They often get loose and makes it hard to shift correctly.
