Default Transition Lenses under helmet?

Do transition lenses work when worn under a helmet with a clear face shield? We rode late the other day and the sun was like a strobe light between the trees and also very annoying while traveling west!
Thanks,
Dave

I think my goggles and face shield for my simpson helmet are uv protectant so they wont turn the transitions dark, just like the windows in your car, they block uv so your lenses never turn dark in a car....

About the only thing that helps for me in those situations is to flip up the faceshield. Between the shield and my glasses I get a double glare, but its tolerable with the shield up.

So Transition Lens only work for UV lighting. Never thought of that. The Scott Goggles that I use darken whenheat is appiled. Especially at night when cars headlights are on. [:@]

As I have been using the transition lenses for about 5 years now.......No they won't change under a clear helmet lense as the helmet lense is UV treated. In bright sunlight and daytime conditions i have always used a tinted faceshield for my HJC helmet. As a matter of fact i have a iridium green lens for it for daytime running......at night or in darker/cloudy days i run a clear lense which still won't allow for a lense change.you need to actually call HJC and spec a non UV blocking lens for the helmet which I did for my CL-SP helmet....it works great and is awesome with my transitions lenses in my normal eyeglasses. The face shield is by special order only ....or you can call helmet city.com and they may be able to help you on this one. I bought one of these lenses and after i got the bill i will never buy another one.......I'm content with swapping them out when the sun sets.

Thanks for the added info. I will just get her a tinted shield for now. We always ride in the daylight.
