Even with Bills modified carb it is a close fit on the cable. I am not sure what he does to the arm to not make it hit. You might want to give him a call.

I actually got it to fit by just tilting it a little bit....bike started up, but isnt right...at an idle it sounds like its backfiring or something, the pipe seems to be getting hot quick, and will stall out if you let go of the throttle. Tried the air screw at 1/2, 1, and 2 turns out and it made no difference.. not sure if the 42 pilot is way to big or what....now how carbs work, just not how to set up one from scrath..cant find anyone to give me a jetting suggestion

Now I know something! I know you have not used the search function. I know for a fact this topic has been discussed dozens of times...

Dont start your plea for help with " I cant get anyone to help me" when you have not even tried the search function. Everybody on here helps each other.

Back to your question. Unless your running a bigbore kit like the 331 or 351, then the 42 pilot is way to big! Try a 38 or a 40. As far as how to tune a carb try google!

Or you can try this.
http://www.iwt.com.au/mikunicarb.htm

This tells you the right way to tune the carb. If your going to do it this way then go buy yourself a few sparkplugs. You will need a new one or you will need to clean the current plug everytime your do a new adjustment until you have the carb fully adjusted. Depending on how your spark plug looks, you will be able to tell if you are 2 lean or 2 rich.

good luck

I sent you a pm to send me your carb so I can see what is wrong with it. Something is set up or assembled wrong.
main jet should be 137.5, pilot jet 37.5 air screw 1 1/2 turns out to start the bike when the bike is warmed up adjudt the air fuel screw in until the engine falters turn the air fuel screw out until the bike idle peaks this is useually the propper setting.

Bill:

Don't really want to ship the carb out. Figure i'd just play with it for now and see if i can figure out what the deal is... is the previous poster correct that a 42 is way too big? Could that be the problem and cause the idle to be all over the place? A couple questions...After looking at it when i took it out, I noticed the slide plate on the engine side was totally closing off the air flow through the venturi. I know the pilot circuit gets its air from the pilot air jet, but would this need to be opened some to make it idle and not stall out?....when i had the idle turned up, this seems it would have been opened some allowing it to run. next question, what is the jet looking thing next to the pilot jet? It doesnt seem to be on the part diagram at all. it has no screw head to remove it either
