Default Which Tires?

ok guys and gals...
wifey says i can pick up a set of tires as an xmas present.. the question is, what tires are aggressive in the dirt yet wont be bald in 1200 miles? I've ran TK's since stock and while i loved them in the dirt i do a fair amount of road riding and the rear would be smoked in 1000 miles +-. the front would last 2000 miles +-.
i realize i may not be able to have my cake and eat it too, but im hopin that theirs an aggressive tire out their with a decent rubber compound that wont get ate up fast by pavement...

* for reference purposes when i say the tire was smoked im not sayin completely bald but around 60-70% gone.. at that point for all general purposes the tires are pretty much shot imho.

any aggressive tires are gonna wear fast... but the 606 wasnt bad with wear... i switched to TM II's.... i can deal with buying one more often for the better traction, i think the tm 2 halfgonehas more traction than the 606 new though.....

How do the 606's compare to the TM II's off road? Specifically in the loose and muddy stuff....

the TM clean them selves out, the 606 seemed to get caked, because TM's ***** are skinny and farther apart than the 606's... I have never had any trouble with the 606 never got stuck with it... but now im riding more offroad than i was before...thats the reason i switched. Personally if i wanted good traction but wanted longer wear i would not hesitate going back to the 606. But when im in the woods i like to not be worried if the tire is gonna bite or not.

Right. My issue is that I need something to get me to and from trails on the street that is basically street safe and will not chew themselves up, but once there I want something that will bite.

Right now I am running D756's, pure MX tires and they rock, but I wouldn't ride on the street with them for more than a couple of miles.

What size TMII for the rear, I was thinking of going 110/100, will I have clearance issues??

Between the TM2 and the Michelin AC-10 I find the Michelin to be wearing a little better but it only has ~ 700 miles on it so far. I had 2200 on the TM2 when I retired it to be studded for ice duty.

The 606 doesn't look to have much in the way of side *****. Don't you find that it slides out easily?

For those that don't care about a DOT stamp, check out the Pirelli MT-16. I've heard some really good things about this tire.
