Thur. Nite Mods List....
Thur. night I'm meeting a friend to help me with a few mods... they include....
1. Q4 Muff
2. Powerbomb header
3. DynaJet
4. 13T front sprocket
5. K&N Air Filter
My friend has a KLR so he's familiar with the Kawi's but he's never performed the jet on a KLX. Is there any last minute advise or tips to be had before I enter the point of no return.
Thanks, bootmud

Um I'm getting very similar mods done to mine, and the only advice I have is that you remove the backfire plate screens in the airbox too so that is breathes easier. Might be easier to do while the carb is off.
Guides here (I think step 2 is the important one you want to look at):
Step 1: https://www.kawasakiforums.com/forum...ead.php?t=9349
Step 2: https://www.kawasakiforums.com/forum...ead.php?t=9350
Step 3: https://www.kawasakiforums.com/forum...ead.php?t=9351
Otherwise, it seems the Dynojet instructions tell you which jet and what needle slot to use. And WestOzKLX advised starting with 2 turns out on the air/fuel mixture screw to start with.
I also came across this very good Jetting 101 guide on the Dirt Bike World forums which might be useful: http://www.dirtbikeworld.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=26074
The only other thing I am getting done is moving the gear shift lever up one notch on the spline to make it easier to shift with boots on - though that's not really a performance improvement.
Good luck mate, and let us know the results!!!

Arctra,
Very good information. I appreciate the links! I'll give you a heads up after the mods are complete.
I'm curious to see what others think about the removal of the backfire screen.
Again, thank you.

When you install your new slip on pipe, take the header off. Check out the carbon mark left on the header flange. Compare the copper gasket inside diameter to the cylinder head exhaust port inside diameter. Compare the copper gasket inside diameter to the header flange. Decide if its worth the time to remove the lip that impedes exhaust flow.

I felt it was worth doing, but don't know if others would feel its worth the time... ymmv
