Thumbs up three five one, almost done!

Woo hoo, 351 klx 250sf, almost done. All put together, and I started it up just at dark. I warmed it up for a few minutes and changed the oil. It's not idling, I will have to trouble shoot this, and then start to break 'er in! Very stoked about the fact that it doesn't appear that I messed up and it started.

Got all the smog stuff off. I read one thread that mentioned to use a hose clamp to compress the rings. I didn't want to chance scratches, so I used a big zip tie, slipped the cylinder on and then clipped the zip tie. Worked great.

Thanks again to you guys who gave input and guidance.
attached photos- old n new cylinder an piston, 351 cylinder on the bike.

Break in later this week!

Congrats on the successful install, that's gotta be a good feeling to hear it pop off. Good pics too.
It's not easy but I'm waiting untill after an upcoming D/S ride to install my 351. I want some time after the install to get it dialed in.

dan888, I know what you mean, I had my kit sitting on my shelf for over 6 months! It was a tough wait.

what notch is your needle on and how many turns do you have on the A/F screw?

I didn't change the needle since I added the slip on a month or so back. It is in the middle. Have read that a lot of guys are pulling the needle up by placing the clip in the 4th groove down from the top. Have noticed today that the popping on decel is much less now that I have put in the #40 pilot jet. Got 40 miles on the 351 kit as break in today. The logic of the "motoman" break in technique seems sound so that is what i did. Ran her hard immediatly after the first warm up.

Thanks I have the 132/40 setup as well. My needle is on the 3rd clip. Although I do have two washers per the dyno jet instructions. My popping seems to have reduced quite a bit now that I'm running 93 octane. Not sure if that's what helped it or something else. I've got about 40 miles on my BB kit as well. After two warm up cycles and 10 miles of easy throttle, I'm riding it normally. Haven't hit the rev limiter or anything but I haven't really been holding back. Seems to run great. I plan to pull the plug this weekend just to see what it looks like and change the oil/filter at the same time.

Very cool, armycopter... As i mentioned I just decided to rev it hard and do compression decel to brake it in. You id see the 'motoman' recommendation on break in? I'm also very pleased with the uncluttered look with all the smog tubes removed.
