Default Thoughts on 13t frt sprocket for SF model

2009 KLX250SF

Bike goes in for 600 mile first service next week. FMF/rejet/KDX snorkel at the same time. Wanting to make it more of a dual purpose and ordered Shinko 244's for it. No serious dirt riding, just fire trails, etc.

I see a lot of S models going to a 13t front sprocket for a little extra grunt and just curious what you all think about it for a SF model that sees mostly street duty with occasional trail work 80/20.

Thanks and have a great day!

From what you have said about your riding I'd stick with the 14.

Yep. You have smaller tires anyway... the 14T should turn them (from a stop) easy enough.

The 13T helps with tight and rough trails... you're not planning on doing any of that (not that you'd be capable of doing it on an SF anyway). The 13T would drive you nuts on the road, as you'd be shifting WAY too soon in every gear.

I recently bought a 13T sprocket for my SF & had it on for about 3 days! Back on the stock 14T now but it was fun, back street scratching & B-road racing made for a lot of fun for $24.....

pros: More torque & pulled more easy wheelies than ever before....

cons: very short 1st gear & lost a little bit of top speed. Plus it takes me a good 20mins to do the swap over.

Will I, would I put it on again.......YES
