Here is a little more info that I found while looking for something else

Back then you said his 135 DJ main was the equivalent of a Keihin 145? That'd be way too big a Keihin main jet. I think we've discovered since that it's hard to cross ref the DJ to K main jets.
I say just buy bigger Keihin main jets from the aftermarket to begin with and possibly get a better quality controlled jet too boot. |
The info we had then was the comparison charts that have been posted here in the past, like the one from Jets r us. I guess we know now that they're wrong.
I wish I had saved my money and not bought the DJ kit. I'll probably pull it out and go with the Keihin parts. I wonder if it's OK to drill this slide, instead of using the spring? |

It's interesting that the comparison charts are based on orifice diameter, but that there's such a difference in flow between the Keihin and DJ. The carbs are essentially the same if not identical, aren't they? Others have installed the 2206 DJ kit in the 2009+ carb and drilled the slider. Us KLR riders will also drill the slider without adding any kit. If you don't like it, fill with epoxy and re-drill a hole of original size. |

I went as far as rounding off the inlet port entrance so air could flow in faster to raise the slide. http://static.wixstatic.com/media/ba...0_0.00_png_srz |
From memory, the slide and diaphragm are different between my 07 and 09, so I wondered if there might be a difference in the holes.

Seems to be the same part number for 07 and 09 slides as far as I can see.

Richer needle?
Anybody have a suggestion for a richer needle than the Dynojet for the stock carb?
I should probably just buy a TM36, but I already feel a little silly about how much $ I've sunk in this bike... |
