Tank choice confusion for KLX250R
First things first, the bike is a 2006 KLX250R H6, Australian model.
It has a steel 7.2L tank stock.
Most of the tanks I've been looking at (in the USA) state that they are specifically for 250S, 300R, or pre-97 250R and pretty much nothing specifically stating it will fit a 06 250R.
Is this because the 250R isn't marketed as much in the USA? Is an Australian 250R otherwise identical to a USA 300R?
I'm curious as to whether a tank for a 300R; for example 3.2gal IMS, will fit a 250R even if there is no mention of it.
Any thoughts greatly appreciated. Cheers!

The Acerbis KLX tank from the 300 series will fit all KLX250 models from '93-'07. It will even fit '09 and later models with some minor mods. I notice that on the factory Acerbis site that they don't list the '06-'07 250S model, but that's probably because of the choke **** issue alone. I and many others have the KLX300 Acerbis tank mounted on their '06-'07 250S models, and it is basically a simple bolt-on setup. You do have to shave the plastic on the choke **** a tiny bit to make it work. The problem with the earlier IMS and Clarke tanks for the 300 to fit the 250 usually involves the issue of a fan on the DS KLX models. I've seen these tanks modded to fit a fan equipped KLX, but they usually involved some extensive modding.

I ahve a Clarke on my KLX250H7F. Fitted it up in abot an hour. Tank to seat junction needed a minor mod; (already done by Neilaction, as I got the tank secondhand from him.) Rad shrouds fit fine and no mods needed for the fan. Hardest part is routing new fuel hoses, but that only took about 20 mins, (you can't use the stock hoses, so you'll need about 50cm of new fuel line.)
Bashed the tank over 500 km of The Holland Track and not a single issue. No movement, no leaks, great seal from the Clarke cap too. The Clarke uses the stock Kawa' petcock. You remove them from the stock tank and refit them on the Clarke.
Gget one here, they ship to AUS. >> Kawasaki KLX250 Clarke Fuel Tank Just Gas Tanks.com
