Especially if you have to leave quickly, I believe Stabil or a similar fuel stabilizer really does work great over long periods. Just make sure to start the engine to insure the treated fuel actually gets into the carb. Sometimes when you just drain a carb fuel bowl and leave it dry, a tiny bit of residue still gums up the pilot jet in a motorcycle carb.
