The insurance companys only have to pay fair market value. Get Gap insurance on anything you buy it pays the difference in case of a total lose. I did get the money for the mods. As soon as you leave the dealership the price drops over $1000 even on cars. You buy a new car and total it the next day full coverage does not pay off the loan value. I wish everyone was aware of this. I just dropped my deductible on my KLR someone hit it in a parking lot and bent the frame.
