Default Steering dampener for a KLX 250SF

I have a 2009 and have the oversize IMS 3.0 Gallon Tank. I looked at the SCOTT, the WER, and the cheap ones online. Has anyone done this with the same setup that I have? I have seen the ones that mount on the forks and that seems to be the easiest way to go but can't find the complete kit. I live in area that has ****ty road and when I about 60 and hit these patches the bike gets a little squirely. So I have already decided I want one, its just getting to that point. I have stock suspension with supermoto wheels and beefy Shinko AT tires. When I had the street tires, the bike did the same thing. I hit 90 on a smooth road and it was smooth. It's just the crappy roads we have here and I would like to avoid a tank slapper.

Way back when the KLX300 came out, they had a similar problem. A couple folks added steering dampers and others, like my self, set up our suspensions properly which cured the problem. Are your fork springs the correct weight for you and the larger fuel tank? I'd get the right springs (usually stiffer) before installing the steering damper.

How do I determine that?

The general guideline is that the forks should compress 1/4 of their total travel between full extension and where they are with the rider on the bike in his/her riding position. With your bigger tank, make sure your have at least half a tank of gas when you measure.
You can also get Race Tech's recommended spring rates here: RT - Digital Product Search
