Default Stalling downhill

I went riding saturday at a local offroad park and going down a couple of the hills my KLX would die. They were pretty steep and tall hills and I normally put the bike in 1st and let the engine do the braking but the bike would die. I don't recall it doing that in the past. What should I check or do or is this normal? Adjust the idle up?

I've experienced similar. I think first is just giving too much holdback. Try second.

Thanks, that makes me feel more like it just not me then. I will give second a go, but dont want to gather to much speed either.

Seems like it should not matter if going down hill in 1st or 2nd gear. Bike shouldn't die. Does the bike idle OK otherwise? Float height adjustment?

Sooooo, does it also stall going uphill? (Seriously; think about what might be happening in the tank, in the bowl, etc. What's different?) Not trying to be a wise-a$$.

Runs fine any other time. Float height was checked and was correct when checked with clear tube method in Feb.

Tank was full. Float height checked and was correct in Feb. So what's your suggestion? Asking for help.

If you are going downhill too slowly , in gear, using the brakes, you can stall it out pretty easily. I've done it. Nothing wrong with the bike in this case, just operator error Just pull the clutch and hit the starter , no stopping if you're quick enough.
This may or may not be your issue.

If you're not using your rear brake, there is no reason the bike should stall. You have a problem, and what it is, I don't know. hahaa... Sorry.

But I do know I go down hills with the motor braking in any gear and it never stalls.

I am going to go with Dans answer and assume its operator error. I was probably grabin the rear brake and not even realizing I was doing it. Next time I will pay special attention to make sure I don't hit the rear brake and see if it does it.
