Default sputtering (a bit) until fully warmed up

Hey guys,

My KLX is bone stock (even stock bars haha).

It has 5300kms on it and for about a year or 2, i start it (using the choke as always)... after running for a few minutes, i put the choke in.

When i drive it away it will sputter and hesitate a little bit unless i'm REALLY slow applying throttle... after i get the RPMs up to 8k ish, it's fine for the rest of the day...

so i guess my question is:
since this never happened when it was new... what's changed?

Note: i haven't changed the air filter yet and have never touched the carb etc

****EDIT*** I'm obviously going to do the air filter - but i just wanted to know if there was anything else i should look out for.

I did a search but most people's issues seem to be with jetting or other aftermarket parts.

Thanks again guys!

Have you tried letting it warm up for a longer time to see what happens?

Clean the air filter.

Adjust the pilot screw.....out maybe a quarter to half a turn.

Inspect pilot jet. Clean if needed.

Check intake valve clearances.

Ride on

Cool,

thanks guys.. i'll check all of the above next time i have some free time.

If i let it warm up longer, it's usually fine. It's just that i never used to have to let it warm up as long as i do now (about an extra few minutes.)

Thanks again!
