That's what I'm going to do next time I change my oil! I never thought about it until I started this tread. In fact I think this may have been my very first thread I started. Really happy that I joined this forum!

This thread was timely...changed oil for the first time today. Bent spring slightly and it worked perfect.

+1 on bending the spring.

Fact is, little tips like that are a lot of the reason I joined this forum in the first place when I got my '07.

Wisdom is what you can learn from others, experience is self taught. I'm old enough to be proud of the fact that I can learn things from others that will save me time and aggravation. Funny what a grey hair or two can do......

Last time I got a flat I didn't even take the wheel off, just popped the tube out, patched it and fitted the tyre back on. Saved a little time.

Wow, that sounds more difficult... ive never had luck patching tubes... I can change a tire in the garage in about 20 mins. Took awhile to learn the proper way to do it though.

so,,, ive changed my oil a couple times now on an '04 klr 250 and haven't seen any spring. ??> its not stuck on the back cause i have looked up in there. Does anyone know what happens if you've been riding without said spring ? and now that i think of it,,, i do remember finding a mystery spring on the garage floor sometime back. probably just after i changed the oil the first time..
