If you are moving to California from another state, you may register a new 49-State vehicle if it was first registered by you in your home state, or for military personnel, in the last state of your military service. When applying for vehicle registration in California, you must provide evidence that the vehicle was registered.

 

You can't buy or sell mags over 10 rounds in Kali, but if you already have them you are fine for now. There is a bill about to change that too.

SB 396 (Hancock): Prohibiting Possession of Large Capacity Ammunition Magazines

Current California law prohibits the sale of large capacity ammunition magazines (magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition) but possession of these magazines is not illegal. SB 396 would prohibit the possession of a large capacity magazine in California, regardless of when the magazine was acquired. The bill would provide that any person who legally possessed a large capacity magazine may lawfully dispose of the magazine by selling it to a firearms dealer, removing it from the state, destroying it, or surrendering it to law enforcement by July 1, 2014.

Status: Currently in the Assembly. Passed the Senate (24-14) on May 29.

SB 47 would close the “bullet button” loophole by clarifying that any semiautomatic rifle with one of the listed military-style features is an assault weapon unless it has a fixed magazine. The bill defines “fixed magazine” as a magazine “contained in, or permanently attached to, a firearm in such a manner that the device cannot be removed without disassemble of the firearm action.” SB 47 would require any person who lawfully possessed a “bullet button”-equipped weapon to electronically register the firearm before July 1, 2015 with the Department of Justice.

Not sure about the "whole" country, Lotrat. Texas session may be on the horizon...LOL!

I have several relatives who live around San Diego. They keep me up to date on all the socialist maneuvers in Cali.

Yeah, it can get hot here. Makes for nice riding during the other 3 seasons of the year, however. I really like California for its weather and scenery, but at some point I'm probably not going to frequent places that are going down the path CA is going. I'm not hatin' on 'em. I have relatives there that I think a lot of, and one of them who owns a business there is thinking about moving to Texas...and he was born and raised in CA. My favorite riding in CA is in the southern, desert end from Death Valley all the way to the Mexican border. Our Big Bend area is quite similar.

 

As a conservative, it's tough to live here. It's just a very liberal state. At times I feel shunned because I'm a Republican, like I have a Scarlet R on my forehead. Unfortunately, we will continue to have our "rights" stripped from us and new taxes imposed until we vote for change. I hate I just used Obama's slogan!

My wife and I own a business and we pay an insane amount in taxes and workers comp insurance. Not only that, but the bureaucracy is unbelievable. As an example, we pay over $400 a year to the city just for our business license. And of course every state department has got to get their share of our pie.

Other then going to college in Reno I've lived in CA my entire life and never planned to leave. But over the last few years I've been having second thoughts. We're still a long ways away from retirement but it is something I think about.

 

Ever thought of stopping short of the West coast, like here in Utah? You can have your bikes, guns, and dog here, *AND* there's plenty of decently-paying jobs to be had. Just a thought...

Because the bike left CA this, which I came across on another site, may or may not apply:
"If you buy a CA. bike that obtained a license prior to 1/2004 it will always be a licensed bike. That is why they command more money here. But it does not work for bikes licensed out of state."
You might be able to claim it never left CA and just pay the back reg fees or however CA does that.
