I really don't think it matters much since it's buried by the seat.

Wow this was an old post, I remember when I posted it. The shop called shortly after this thread and said that the snorkel was back ordered and that running with the lid off would be better anyway, and how right they were.

+1 I found a world of difference with the lid off vs a very modded lid including big snorkel. waste of time me thinks.

Yep, I've got a KDX snorkle in a box somewhere. You may need to rejet if you completely remove the lid, you don't want it too get too lean.

And here I thought this was a new post.

Rather than waste money on a bigger snorkle. Just yank out the old one and run it with out a snorkle. For more air, leave out the lid.

I did a little test a while back to feel how much air the KLX breathes. Just put hand over the snorkle and blipped the throttle. My hand was instantly sucked to the snorkle and the engine died. So the KLX is really a big breather.

oh well, guess i have more stuff to put into my parts box.... i just dont like it when the parts are BRAND NEW and end up in there...
