Anyone have a comment on the Utah making any noise?
Actually we had a discussion a while back when everyone started installing the Utah plate, and what was discovered by users and me talking to the local bike shop and other riders, was that anytime you add a plate, any plate, any noise that was there will be amplified and directed up instead of down which will sound like the plate is making noise. Trust me it isn't the plate its just noise directed from down to up. I love the Utah plate, a lot better than one that had wings that didn't curve up. I forget which one that was but it was just a flat plate that hung out like a sore thumb. The Utah is cool because we all had some input and so there is a certain ownership and pride in what we helped to create. There even was a group buy when it first became available.

Just ordered mine from Utah and the discount code still works. Do I leave the original plate on that is under the base of the engine? Looked like it was still on according to the pictures that were posted.

Even if you could leave it on, i'd take it off just to save weight.

I took mine off, plus two of the bolt holes are the holes where the stock plate is. Take it off.

The Utah plate actually looks great, considering the protection it provides. It can easily be personalized by drilling a few discretionary holes for a leaner look. The biggie is covering that water pump and Utah's unit does that without any excess aluminum. They will sell you one without the wings if you wish, but as we've stated, they're worth having. They also spent tons of time with us, even to the extent of using a forum member's bike to get the fit perfect. Great guys to do business with too.

Also didn't i read somewhere that it rattles quite a bit? I'm not dismissing it, but it just looks big and clunky.
No rattles here at all as i tightened mine all the way
the Utah sport skid also saved my water pump well over 60 miles into the trail when i ran the browning fork trail in Hatfield-McCoy in july.......saved me a long walk home when it actually left a mark that can still be seen to this day.....ride hard.......cover well.....party naked......
