Default Singletrack Video - Logs, Rocks, and Crashes

Gave my 06 KLX250 a good workout on the singletrack last Sunday. I realize the KLX isn’t the ideal bike for what I put it through but it’s keeping up quite well and is proving to be quite durable, even without a skid plate or rad guards. Bike is stock other than jetting, tires, bars and 13/48 gearing.

That video was good!! I don't think you'll need a skid plate there, I didn't even see one rock! and watch out for those trees!

Neat woods trail. No kidding on the stumps...get a skid plate.

It's a funny thing on the KLX, especially if you jazz up the suspension a little and get a little more low end grunt with some mods. Quick handling and suspension action at speed is where it's somewhat limited. Having had many quality race dirt bikes over the years, I'm often amazed at how well the KLX performs in rough terrain as long as you don't override the weight and suspension. And it climbs like crazy in some of the loosest and rockiest terrain. It's ability to get traction is quite good. Yes, this is partially because of the low, controllable power band, but the KLX at least has a combination of geometry, suspension, and tractable power to make it a very decent rough terrain bike...as long as you ride within its envelope.

Bring that thing out to the Rock Hound next year! Skid plate highly recommended in that area.

Thanks for all the comments!

fzrcraig, I had never heard of that event but after reading up on it I'm planning to make it next year, thanks for the suggestion!
