Default Skid Plate

Hi Guys,
I recently ordered a new skid plate from Utah Sports Cycles and I know many of you have done the same thing. My question is whether you removed the stock small skid plate between the frame rails or just put the new one on over it? Mine is a 2007. Thanks for any input you can give me,
Pete

Someone actually found a good use for the OEM skidplate ... under their kickstand to keep it from sinking in the asphalt!!!
