Silver Star Mtn pics
These pics are of Silver Star Mtn in SW WA. The area in all of the pics was open to jeeps/motorcycles back in the 70's-you can even see the old tracks going through the meadows. The road up to the parking area is 8 miles of HELL-or Nirvana to KLX'ers-it's steep, rocky, covered with semi swallowing pot holes..it's awesome[sm=icon_rock.gif] Anyway, hope you like the pics. I have about 50 total if anyone wants to see more.
Parking area with Mt St Helen's in the background. She was 2,000 feet higher before blowing her top-literally.
I believe this is an ancient petroglyph by PNW Indians.
Just some pretty stuff.
Mt St Helen's again
That line across the mtn is a mtn bike trail.
You can see the old jeep trails through the meadow.
This is Mt Adam's. I've climbed it twice and Mt St Helen's 5 times. Adam's is over 12,000 feet-St Helen's about 8,000..now..
Mt St Helen's and Mt Rainier. Haven't climbed Rainier-over 14,000 feet, some of the most severe mtn weather on earth-climbing it is a large venture..maybe some day..
This is Mt Hood. It's actually in Oregon.
Another purrty one.
This is The Old Grist Mill. It's on the way to Silver Star.

Great pics. Man, I have travelled in and through Washington several times. I forgot how much BC and Washingtons terrain is similar on the coastal side. looking at your pics is like looking at photos of some place in BC. We don't have large volcanic mountains like Washington and Oregon in BC. I mean we have volcanic mountains, but not like the stand alone monsters you have in your pics. In BC it is just a sea of 6000-10000ft mountains with lots of glaciers.
In Vancouver you can always see Mt. Baker. It seems so close to the city, but it is well over 100km away. This weekend I'm riding to mountain near the US border where I should get a good view of Baker. I'll take some pics if I get there.
My favourite of all the volcanoes I have visited in the US in definetely Crater Lake in Oregon. What an unique place.

Dang konacoiler, that's some sweet looking riding right there. I have Family in Tacoma ... I think I might need to load up the KLX and make a long roadtrip so I can experience some of that!! It's been over 15 yrs since I was there last.

nothing like summertime in the northwest for great picture taking. nice pics, must not be from a camera phone like mine are lol. when i was in the navy in 1990 i was stationed at whidbey island washington and the whole time i was there i was dying for a klr250 but just never got one. lots of greenery to explore, when the sun is shining. anyway, keep up the good work.

Thanks for the compliments guys. The pics were taken with a Casio digital camera. I just bought the thing, and it's turning out to be a great investment. Before, I always used the camera phone, or camera in a box-this takes much nicer pics. GreenMachine is correct about Crater Lake. If you could only see one thing in Oregon, I would recommend Crater Lake. Hey GreenMachine, you do any mtn biking up in BC? I've been wanting to get up to Whistler to hit the trails. There's some awesome biking up there. [sm=icon_ladiesman.gif]

konacoiler - not sure if you know, but Whistler/Blackcomb has mtn bike trails in the summer.
You buy a ticket for the gondola, take your bike up the gondola and ride down the trails all day long.
It's kick *** fun. I only did it once and I had a crappy bike to ride.
Sure would like to do it again. There are some gnarly trails too - I saw one guy getting taken out on a board by the paramedics.

Hey KawiWawi. A buddy of mine owns a condo right in the center of the Village. He goes biking up there a couple of times every summer-lucky B*****D. There is some crazy stuff up there-all over BC as a matter of fact.

Konacoiler,
I do have mountain bikes. I used to mtn bike regularily, but dirtbiking became my obsession. I still have the bikes. If you can ride dirtbikes riding mtn bikes is an easy transition. I could mtn bike easily again with a little bit of practice.
Several of my friends ride regularily and venture to whistler Mtn to ride thousands of vertical feet. I rode Whistler once, lots of fun. Kawi Wawi is right, whistler is the spot to go for a mtn biking trip. However, if your a local here there are lots of great riding areas in Vancouvers fraser valley, Squamish and they are free. I think whislter mtn biking is $40 plus dollars a day. Pretty pricy, but if your on a trip it worth it for the experience.
This from Blackcomb, the fog in the valley was kind of cool.
