Cut my own shield to go w/ the TCI brackets. Can buy just the brackets for $59.

 

Looks good, but IIRC, the TCI brackets only fit 2009+ bikes.

 

I used a National Cycle Deflector Shield with a quick release mount so I could remove it easily when I don't want it. It also has some adjustability up and down, back and forth to suit. I did trim the angle on the area around the light housing for a nicer fit, using tape to mark it and a hacksaw blade to trim it.



The quick release is mounted to the crossbar using some plastic wire wrap and some PVC tubing split in half to act as shims.

The shield was under $100 at a bike shop. Make sure to get the quick release for a neat mount and easy removal. The second quick release of the windshield from the mounts makes it a breeze to take it off and clean all the crud and bugs from it really easy too:



It is a great fit for the older KLX250 square headlight housing which is the same housing as on my KLX650 C. Maybe some different angle of trimming on the bottom might make it look really trick on the new gen KLX too.

 

Well - I'm not much for using a universal screen as I find don't really fit - or looks wrong on top of the headlight fairing.
So i whipped out a piece of cardboard, a sheet of poly-something that was surplus from another project - and a few tools.
Ended up with this "design":

View from driver' seat also shows my contraption for mounting m GPS - hated having it on the handlebar ;o)

How I mounted the topbox without a rack is another story ;o)
